Our product is an idea made to help prevent the vast amount of electrical energy wasted around all buildings, mainly households and businesses. Our invention, the ENUFFOMETER, allows you to measure, monitor and
remotely control all the electrical equipment in your home or workplace. The
product will consist of one central remote and data readout device and a set of
smart plugs that need to be put in around the home. These plugs will allow the
central control to remotely turn on or off anything plugged into them and will
feed the central control information on the amount of electricity being used and what is using it. The central control can then calculate the amount of energy being used
and it's cost, in terms of money and CO2 output.
The ENUFFOMETER can be programmed to turn off certain things at certain times, e.g.
it could be programmed to turn of anything that had been left on standby or
turn everything off at night. This can be very convenient for lots of people such as big businesses
needing to shut down lots of equipment at the same time. You can just
send a command like "Turn all off" when leaving and it will be done for
you.
For more complex readouts and for graphs of your results, the ENUFFOMETER can also be plugged into your computer. The device will then link to the ENUFF website. This site will produce graphs of your results and can compare your results with all other ENUFF owners to find any appliances using a higher than necessary amount of energy. The site can look at the appliances and methods used by those with the lowest energy measurements per person and give advise on how to cut down. ENUFF aims to cut down on wasted electricity and also to raise
awareness about the issues of global warming. Therefore the regularly updated website will contain links to video
clips and list a range of websites, books and even courses where you can learn

You
can text (free of charge), your ENUFFOMETER by using your mobile phone and control the electrical usage in your household
or workplace from anywhere! This could be very useful for people going to work such as in big I.T. labs who may previously have left the computers on 24/7. A text on the way there will insure that all the computers will be ready to go and need not be left on over night.
Through the website you can set up ENUFF's ENUFF targets. You can set a maximum limit on the amount of electricity you are aiming to use over a period of time, (hour, day, week etc.). Your central control will keep you posted on your progress and flash up warnings if you are going to miss your target. The ENUFFOMETER will even send reminder to your mobile.
Why is it special?
Our product is special because it is unique. There are other products available that can do part of what ENUFF
can do but no one has yet seen the benefits of putting all this
available technology together. For example, there are products that
will monitor the combined energy being used by your house. But these
can't tell you which devices are using what and they can't remotely
control anything.
